Haven't reached that yet so I can't tell you wether there is more to come or not.After power became consolidated in the era of the Imperial Star Union, Territories held by the Houses had to submit to Union control, or face annihilation. There is also an achievment for managing a mission with 300% XP bonus (the more difficult the missions get, the more % XP you can rack up). There is an achievment for reaching empire level 300, which is done by getting all races and techs to their maximum level, I guess. starting with some early techs already unlocked. In the end these boni are: units you can't normally build, mods to install on units and heroes and doctrines and operations you get to select boni before each mission to buy during the game with those empire point I mentioned earlier. starting with a commander and getting heroes that are already leveled The more artifacts and XP you gain over the course of the missions, the more boni you'll get. There are additional sidequests, some fix, some randomly thrown in, which provide additional XP for races or techs. The race, secret tech and heroes gain XP during such missions. You get that points from achieving secondary goals. I think its called empire points? It's a resource to buy pre selected boni during your mission.
The grails have to be found in archeological expeditions. You basicly just have to win the mission (no matter how) to get the artifact - besides the grails. On these missions can be found artifacts. you create yourself a roaster of heroes, from which you choose one as the commander for the next mission.
